About Me

A graduate of the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), Frank is very active within the field of music education with over twenty years of teaching experience. Along with maintaining a private teaching studio, working with piano, theory, and composition students of all ages in a variety of musical styles, Frank regularly conducts workshops and master classes, adjudicates festivals, and is the author of a book and articles on music education. Frank was President of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ORMTA), the Central Toronto Branch of ORMTA and Lakeshore Arts in Toronto. From 1999 to 2011, Frank was a member of the RCM College of Theory Examiners.

Born in Ottawa, Canada, Frank Horvat is also an award-winning and critically acclaimed multi-genre composer, recording artist and concert pianist. Whether composing for his band, the concert stage or film/TV he maintains an active schedule of recording projects and performances of his own compositions. With a continuously growing discography and composition premieres on four continents, he has performed in a variety of venues and festivals worldwide including the Glenn Gould Studio, Massey Hall, Nuit Blanche, Music and Beyond Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival, NXNE, Gallery 345, NYC’s St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery and his compositions have been featured in plays, film and on television networks like the CBC, HBO, Vice & Bravo as well as radio stations internationally.

Residing in the Humber Bay Shores community of Toronto, Frank is an Associate Composer at the Canadian Music Centre (CMC) and a member of the Canadian League of Composers.
